As the hospitality industry prepared for a surge in travel tied to the World Cup, expectations across many markets reached elevated levels. However, a range of external factors, including rising travel costs and softer than anticipated international demand, has tempered those projections in the weeks leading up to the tournament.

Within this broader context, RREAF Holdings has maintained a steady and data driven approach. Rather than anticipating outsized gains, the firm aligned its strategy with historical demand patterns and existing business segments.

Brad Busby, Executive Vice President of Hospitality at RREAF Holdings, noted that the company implemented moderate rate increases depending on match timing, generally ranging between 5% and 20%. Weekday demand was not expected to shift significantly given the strength of the company’s core business traveler base, while weekends were projected to see incremental gains.

“They projected a modest increase on weekends akin to NFL games, and thus far, their projections are pacing almost exactly as expected,” Busby said.

Reflecting on the Dallas market specifically, Busby emphasized a grounded view of the opportunity.

“In Dallas, we never saw it as nine Super Bowls,” he said. “We saw it as nine high profile Dallas Cowboys games.”
