As featured in “Multifamily Executive”

RR Living is featured in Multifamily Executive for its perspective on how artificial intelligence is reshaping workflows across multifamily operations, while reinforcing that human judgment remains central to execution at the property level. As the industry continues to adopt AI tools across leasing, maintenance, and communications, operators are increasingly defining where automation adds value and where human oversight remains essential.

At the Real Estate Technology & Transformation Center Technical Summit, industry leaders gathered to discuss the growing role of AI in multifamily operations. While adoption strategies varied, a common theme emerged: AI is accelerating workflows, but the core of property operations still depends on human decision making, particularly in resident facing functions.
Within this broader discussion, RR Living emphasized how technology is being integrated into daily operations across its portfolio of multifamily communities.
Amy Barricelli, senior vice president at RR Living and a member of the Multifamily Innovation Council, noted that AI is beginning to reshape how teams manage routine operational tasks, particularly in leasing and resident communication, where repetitive workflows can be streamlined.
“Where we’re seeing real traction is in the areas that historically pulled our teams away from the resident-facing work they wanted to be focused on,” Barricelli said. “There are a lot of repetitive questions in leasing and resident communication, and AI can handle a surprising amount of that. If the technology can answer routine questions or help guide a prospect through the early part of the leasing process, it frees our teams up to focus on the interactions that actually matter.”
She added that RR Living’s approach has focused on targeted implementation rather than broad automation, with AI being used to support marketing workflows, assist leasing teams, and improve operational organization.
“We’re looking at places where AI technology can remove steps from the process,” Barricelli said. “If you can help a leasing professional respond faster, organize information faster, or generate the first pass of something that used to take 20 minutes, that’s meaningful, and those small efficiencies quickly add up across a portfolio.”
RR Living’s perspective reflects a broader industry shift, where AI is increasingly viewed as a tool to enhance efficiency and support teams, while the most complex and human centered aspects of multifamily operations remain grounded in experience, judgment, and local knowledge.
